The hanging bridge as far as "Gabeiras Islands"

Doniños is left behind us. The wide beach was a witness of the english defeat in 1800, when they tried to invade us and also conquer the naval dockyard and shipyard. The sandy spot ends in the cliffs still having the remains of Lobariz settlements, and it is here where we begin a new legend.

It is about a snake living in those pre-romanesque ruins. A settlement which is said to have been built by the moslem. Lobadiz snake has a pointed hat "a hood".

It is said there was a bridge from which the people who lived in the seltlement arrived at " Gabeiras Islands". It was a large rubber bridge. A hanging bridge like those we usually find over Galiciam rivers. We imagine that being so large its movement in bad weather is such that is similar to a fun-fair. It is possible that people from bilbao saw in it the inspiration to make their famous smart bridge.

It is certain that in these islands of " Gabeiras" which are rougher and rougher due to the sea erosion, there is still space for the seagulls and ducks to make their nests, while they watch the international maritime traffic pass through the naval motorway.
