Meeting with the students

Last tuesday we had a meeting with students of different levels to organize the future activities. Miguel, our coordinator, showed them a presentation about the activities carried out in Estonia and those activities they are going to do along the year.

They are looking forward to knowing students other countries and work together in this project.

Water, spring of life.

Water, spring of life. Water is more than just H2O, it is more than a compound of oxygen and hydrogen. No matter how you try to say or see it, there is much more behind the water than just a colorless, transparent, odorless, tasteless liquid. It is a source of life. No living creature would be able to survive without water. Humans are almost entirely made of water, and jellyfish.. those animals would dry out, as soon as they are put out of water, so not only they are made of it, they live in it. There is life in earth because if water, and we should not treat it like dirt, throwing trash in the sea, because it has its consequences, that are only getting worse with the pass of the years.

It is a very needed natural source in the developed world, not just for drinking but for cleaning, cooking, personal hygiene, watering plants... we give it all kinds of uses.
Unfortunately, we use too much, and it's going to give up, end. If we don't want to exploit it, if we want to take care of the nature and our planet, we seriously need to start making some changes in our personal lives. One example is not taking a bath, but shower instead, and always close the sink while brushing teeth and washing hands, etc.
There are many many ways to show that we really care about it, and now only talking about the end of the most important source of life in the planet: water.
But as important it is in the job of creating life, it brings them together. This year, the water will bring together many countries, many people, many places and traditions to share with one another, having a lot of fun and exploring now things, meeting new people, languages and places. It is indeed, a spring of life.

Because of the drought we are suffering, there is very little water in the river. The photo was taken last tuesday.

OBJETIVOS DEL PROYECTO Y ESTRATEGIAS

• Incrementar la concienciación entre nuestros estudiantes y la comunidad de la importancia del agua
• Animar a los jóvenes a pasar más tiempo en contacto con la naturaleza y hacerse mejores observadores;
• Adquirir un conocimiento general acerca de lo que uno tiene y lo que disponen otros países así como adquirir una más completa imagen de Europa en general;
• Estudiar las plantas y animales en torno a aguas locales mediante tareas prácticas (en oposición a aprender mediante libros);
• Animar a los estudiantes a beber más agua en lugar de bebidas gaseosas e incrementar el conocimiento acerca del impacto del agua en su salud;
• Hacerse más consciente sobre los sistemas de distribución de agua, ciclo del agua, el agua como fuente de energía y como ser un consumidor amigable con el medio ambiente;
• Estudiar el folclore del agua y crear nuevas historias para futuras generaciones;
• Mejorar las destrezas de Informática y Comunicación de los estudiantes, aprender a usar programas de diseño de animación y el uso de las técnicas más modernas de comunicación;
• Animar a estudiantes, padres y profesores a usar lenguas extranjeras, experimentar el comunicarse con gente con diferentes acentos y distinto bagaje cultural;
• Intentar centrar los trabajos en las áreas de Geografía, Ciencias (Química y Biología), Inglés, medio ambiente, Tecnologías de la Comunicación, Educación Física y salud, estudios culturales y ecoturismo;
• Enfatizar en el aprendizaje mediante trabajo fuera de la escuela, con test y experimentos prácticos, actividades manuales y trabajo en equipo.

La excursión que hicimos hoy por el Belelle fue un paseo estupendo.

Today, students of 1º Bac with the teachers María José Leira, Paco Gallego and María José Campello, we are going to Belelle river. I hope we have a good weather and enjoy the fall in the nature.
